New deliveries

Some new squares have arrived - 18 squares from Catherine in Australia and some large squares from my good friend Anne.

Blanket Number 2

I'm on a roll tonight and blanket Number 2 is very nearly finished. Just the ends to sew in and maybe a boarder. Can't wait to hand them over to Corinne from GRWE.

Huge Announcement - Blanket Number 1 is complete

A fabulous lady called Eileen sent me 30 knitted rectangles yesterday. Last night I blanket stitched them together, with the help of Sherlock on the telly. Today I sewed in all the end and done 2 rows if crochet around the edge. Blanket 1 complete and ready for GRWE!

Look what's arrived all the way from the USA! Some fabulous squares for the project. It's amazing to think how far they have travelled. They are so pretty. Thank you Kelly!!!

We have a logo!

Thanks to the fantastic Paul Maloney, we have our logo which will appear on the blog, on leaflets, posters and most excitingly, on the blankets themselves when they are finished. I'm now feeling better (ish) after coming down quiet spectacularly with swine flu and hoping that this week Forever Blanket number 1 will be finished. Keep an eye on Instagram for updates.

 

 

Viola's

Today's post was very good. Not only were there no bills but this months Simply Crochet arrived (even though I'm not best pleased with them) and this gorgeous collection of squares from Louise @loupeggylou. My favourite this the purple and yellow one as it reminds me of my viola's I have growing out the front. So pretty. Thank you

New arrivals

Blanket No 1 is coming together

I've laid out some squares, crocheted some together and hoping its going to look ok. Saturday is the deadline for blanket number 1. If anyone knows the fairy of sewing in ends please send her my way!

Welcome to squares4charity and if you knit or crochet you could really help us out. We are looking for 4inch x 4 inch squares in any colour, in machine washable wool and preferable in DK/8 ply/light worsted.

Just 1 square would be fantastic, more would be amazing. This blog along with the hashtag #squares4charity on Instagram will keep you up to date on the progress of squares coming in, mini challenges and ultimately the finished blankets.

After a busy day at work, and with a sore throat, I arrived home to a parcel containing these! How exciting!!!

What a busy day...

Today has been amazing. Instagram has gone mad with posts, comments and photos of squares that people have made already.

I've also contacted Simply Crochet, the stunning new crochet mag to see if they will do a small feature in it to get some more coverage.

And this new Blog has started! It's not the best blog in the world but it will grow, evolve and expand along with the squares that get donated.

Look at what has been made already!

Square number 1

We have always wanted a whippet. Last September we contacted GRWE and in October we got Dobby! GRWE were so helpful and do such a fantastic voluntary job. Now it's time to give something back.

So squares4charity started last weekend and already well over 20 have pledged in Instagram to make a square or two.
